It's political satire folks an nothing more. Where is all this outrage when the same kinds of shots are being taken at President Bush, Coni Rice, etc. I guess it's only offensive when it is the Dem candidate that is being poked fun of. Lighten up people, geez!

Obama's Muslim Roots Exposed

Looks like the makers of Obama Waffles were right after all to poke fun at Obama’s waffling on his ties to being a Muslim.

ABC News released a story yesterday (”The Emergence of President Obama’s Muslim Roots”) which pointed out how Obama denied any Muslim roots BEFORE the election, but is now, slowly, but clearly admitting he HAS such roots.

These men are too old to be so ignorant. They have no excuse for the lack of knowledge they show about these slave images - like Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben - used to caricature and demean black people ever since our arrival in these lands.

I am tired of it. We are tired of it. When will white people undertake an effort to educate themselves and their families on the evils of slavery and how insulting these images are in reality. To the memories of those long dead and gone - and sometimes un-memorialized - but especially to those of us here today - supposedly your sisters and brothers in citizenry?

An insipid Venom

Obama has been "ACCUSED" of being a muslim.

Since when did belonging to an instituted religion become an offence one can be ACCUSED of?

Words are powerful. Words are insidious.

Bigotry is a venom that at low doses is barely palatable, mostly painless and mainly undetectable. But it is definitely not innocuous. After enough time people loose sensitivity, and the dose may be increased... going from intolerance, to fear, to hatred, to violence.

The real problem about bigotry, is the ease one recognizes it everywhere else but on oneself. People become impregnated with it, sometimes unaware because "everybody says so."

The Obama Waffle "joke" is disturbing. Judeophobic Europe in the first half of the XX century mocked the Jews in a similar manner. The trend goes from derision to dehumanisation, from generalisation to stereotype.

I wish to believe that the people behind the "product" didn't seek to convey a racist message. But in believing so, it becomes clear that they are just vehicles of an already established message. Ignorance and bigotry once again, hand in hand.

Whereas I firmly object banning such kind of expression, it is unsettling to see the similarities of the "imaginary Jew" of the Nazi, to the "Muslim Arab" of XXI century USofA.

Hilarious!

It's political satire folks an nothing more. Where is all this outrage when the same kinds of shots are being taken at President Bush, Coni Rice, etc. I guess it's only offensive when it is the Dem candidate that is being poked fun of. Lighten up people, geez!

Obama Waffles

While you're at it, non-racist guys, why don't you 'cook' up a food product for John McClain. After all, his ancestors (Great great grandfather) owned slaves. He is much closer to Aunt Jemina than Obama when you connect the dots. Read your history boys. After all, its just political satire, right?

Obama Waffles

This is absolutely awful. The caricaturization of Barak and Michelle is horrid. These men believe the comparison to Aunt Jemima is a favorable one and are unsure why it would be considered racist. It absolutely was their intent to align their "satiric" pictures with the degrading slave-era images of Aunt Jemima, no question. Wonder why its Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben but Mrs Butterworths? Research it. Their comparison to Emiril and Newman's own is flat out stupid. ITS THEIR OWN PRODUCT! They chose the images and they are NOT caricatures! The package design seemed to cover practically every black stereotype they could think of: the demanding, aggressive black women with the use of Michelle Obama's picture and demands "What are you waiting for?", the ghetto-centric ridiculous nonsensical rap lyrics to again trying to revive the several-times disputed and disproven myth about Obama's religious heritage. They even said so, that Obama was ACCUSED of being a Muslim. Its not that he IS, it is simply an accusation. Since when did wearing authentic African garb become an indication of your religious preference. That's like saying wearing Bruno Magli's makes you a killer.

Political satire is fair game if you can do it tastefully and without racial insults. Using this racially slanted approach means there wasn't enough political ammunition to use to generate the satire. This lacks taste and credibility. The satire needs to be based in TRUTH and nothing on that box was truthful.

raicism in america

Racism is alive and well. If Obama loses, it affirms that a vote against him in this presidential race is not a sign of patriotism, but one of racism. McCain may have been injured in Vietnam, but did he ever lead anything. Palin: She is a liar, a cheat, alousy parent, and a user. Think America.

Obama Waffles

This is great!! I cant believe small minded people who have no sense of humor and try to say its racism. Why is it that "BARRY" can talk about his black roots growing up, sit in an obvious racist church where anti white doctrine is espoused from the pulpit by the "WRONG" rev wright, make racial comments in his speeches but no one complaines that he is playing the race card. The minute someone else uses political satire about him however , suddenly its racist . GROW UP!! If you cant stand the truth about YOUR candidate perhaps you need to do some waffling yourself.( and vote for real AMERICAN VALUES on the MCAIN/PALIN ticket)

Disingenuous, to say the least

For those McCain supporters who think their candidate is a paragon of consistency, I suggest these links:

Obama Waffles

I cannot believe I'm seeing this in 2008!! These people are scum. I am not fooled by their innocent act, "reminds me of when I was growing up, etc., etc." Barf. These people are anything but Christian.....more like spawn of the devil. Newt and all his juvenile pals should be ashamed.....what poor excuses for men!

jericho4119 is a racist

And I quote "When will white people undertake"

How sad... you have a lot to learn.

A) "Whites" are not the only ones to put people into slavery... as a matter of fact it is usually people of the same race that put others from their own race into slavery.

B) How could you possibly be stupid enough to point to a specific "color" of people to make your point on racism???

C) Is any of this making sense?

D) Didn't think so

Is it really 2008?
